My Story

Digging Into God

Heather Coppinger

hello!

Hi, I’m Heather—follower of Jesus, saved by grace, and continually learning to trust God to lead my life.

I’m passionate about helping kids connect with God by reading His Word. I want every child to know they have a Heavenly Father who loves them deeply and longs to speak to them through the Bible.

God’s Word tells us what’s true. It reveals who He is, who we are, and how we can walk closely with Him.

Digging Into God is a place for Christian moms who want simple, Scripture-based tools to help their kids become Bible literate—because teaching your kids the Bible doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be simple, life-giving, and even fun.

Digging Into God began in 2018 out of a desire to disciple my own children.

Teaching my kids about the Bible felt totally overwhelming. I knew it was important—I wanted them to know and love God’s Word—but with different ages, busy schedules, and a little chaos (okay, a lot), our Bible time felt anything but peaceful.

What changed things for me was a simple shift: I was not meant to be my kids' Savior. I didn’t need to be an expert. I just needed to help my kids learn how to read the Bible for themselves.

So we started small. I gave them each an easier-to-understand Bible, picked a short passage, and showed them how to find the chapter and verses. We read a few verses together, jotted down what stood out, drew pictures, and wrote short prayers. The next day, we did the same thing. Over time, they got the hang of it—and more importantly, they started building a habit.

That experience changed how I viewed discipleship as a mom. And it’s what led me to create Digging Into God—simple, Scripture-focused tools to help Christian moms teach their kids how to open the Bible, understand it, and grow in faith.

You don’t have to do all the work or have all the answers. You just have to start—and trust that God will meet your family right where you are.

teaching kids to read the Bible

“We will not hide these truths

from our children;

we will tell the next generation

about the glorious deeds of the LORD....”

(Psalm 78:4)

Our house is usually loud and messy. Our schedule is busy.  My kids fight. I yell. We are definitely not perfect! Therefore I know we need a Savior, and that the most important thing I can instruct my children in is to:

“love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)

2025: It really does go fast! Start teaching your kids to read the Bible NOW!

As one regular mom to another,  I hope to encourage you by giving you super simple tools and ideas to help you disciple and guide your children into their own personal relationship with Jesus and His Truth.

Let's help our kids:

get the truth about what it means to be a Christian from the Word of God, not this ever-changing culture

understand that they have been purposefully created and put on this earth by God, not by mistake

enjoy a relationship with God, not because they are so good, but because they understand and trust that Jesus lived a perfect life for them, has bought their freedom, and removed their guilt

I long for my kids, and yours, to know the truth--and the Truth Himself.

blessings!

Heather
